One of the big reasons why I stopped posting photos was because I bought a house and most of my energy was going into getting it move-in ready. I finally got moved in 6 months ago (I still didn’t have a roof on my living room yet at that point). The night that I moved my camera gear in with me I was greeted by this sunset.

I haven’t posted anything from Bermuda in a long time and wanted to get something up from the island. I shot this time-lapse in summer with plans to stick it in a larger video, but thought I’d post this 8 seconds as a preview.

I’ve finally gotten my laptop sorted so can get back into processing photos, just in time for me to head off to Europe and take some more. I’m flying out on Wednesday and will be visiting Amsterdam, Barcelona, Florence and London.

For now though, here’s a picture of Mount Island I took earlier this year, complete with turquoise waters.

For the first time in a while I found myself with no plans for the evening, so I decided to head out and take some photos. I went down to Police Beach to see if the sunset would provide some good light. While I was waiting for the sun to dip down I walked over to the entrance of Flatt’s inlet where the golden rays were lighting the pylons of the old railway bridge nicely.

I’ve been working on a time lapsed scene tonight, but didn’t have much luck. I decided to pull one of them out and give you another version of the dinghies at sunset I posted earlier. It was amazing how much the sky lit up that night.

Bermuda can be tricky. Anyone here today knows that it was nice and hot and sunny over the weekend. Today was chilly and overcast. It didn’t look like there’d be any photo opportunities this evening. Then, as I was leaving the squash club, I could see that the sun was peeking under the clouds as it set. I thought I’d missed an opportunity as I pulled out. I had my camera gear in the car but didn’t think I’d make it anywhere in time. As I got closer to home, the clouds just kept getting brighter so I went to this spot not far from my house and hurriedly set up for a shot.

I took 7 photos bracketed from -3 through to +3 and combined them using Photomatix. To get a better idea of how I do this, check out my Free HDR Tutorial.
